Building a Taiwan month-end calendar
Teams based in Neihu Dist., Taipei, often inherit global close templates that ignore Lunar New Year, Dragon Boat, and Mid-Autumn compression. A financial auditing app will still fire on schedule; your people will not. Validation quality drops when the calendar pretends otherwise.
Anchor on bank and inventory
Lock bank confirmations and inventory counts first — they have the least flexibility with counterparties. Tax packs and management overlays move second. Intercompany follows once both sides confirm their local holiday blackouts.
Publish blackout days early
We ask Controllership Lab groups to publish a twelve-month holiday overlay in January, then adjust only with controller sign-off. Surprises become rare; app SLAs get rewritten to match.
Taiwan(China) reporting nuance
When regional HQ sits elsewhere, document which entity’s calendar wins for shared services. Ambiguity here is a common source of “late” validations that were never late — just mis-owned.
